Once every copy sells, the piece is retired forever. With their striking composition and negative space, many pieces work beautifully as book covers and editorial art.

A Life Written in Light

I am Marília Ferraz, and I have been photographing for almost twenty years.

I began with flowers — an exercise in attention, in light, in patience with what is small and passing. An English magazine once ran a feature on that work, back when photography was, for me, simply a way of admiring the world.

That changed when my brother fell ill. He was a doctor, and he understood, with a clarity only medicine can give, exactly how the disease would progress. I walked beside him through that slow and painful process, and it was then that photography stopped being admiration and became something else: a way of tending wounds, of quieting pain, of making the unbearable a little lighter to carry.

Today, I use artificial intelligence the way one uses a new brush — one more tool in the hand of a vision that existed long before it, and that remains, above all, mine. Every image in Anima Imago carries a trace of that journey: the fog, the silence, the black and white that does not hide the pain, but does not surrender to it either.
